I just saw that iStop Motion’s latest upgrade now supports DSLR Live View… I think DragonFrame is the industry standard tool for working with a DSLR – – but its around $300 Although if the model does move you could cut out a few frames where the position is perfect and then just extend the frames duration…and maybe a few seconds of movement AFTER the clothes swap has appeared on screen would actually help sell the effect. It’s going to be challenging because hands, head, legs, forearms etc all must be in the exact same position…and ,for video, stay there. You might also want to post this question into an animation forum if you haven’t already. I wouldn’t think that would matter but I am sure someone has done this who can tell you exactly. This is how the stop motion apps are designed to work although they use the camera’s still function instead of video. However, just thinking about it, I would plan on shooting “tethered” or wired, not wireless, to a laptop. Interesting project and something I’ve never tried but you seem to be on the right track. If there is a better way to accomplish these shots other than using the solution I described above, PLEASE let me know. If this is possible then my next question would be: How do I send a wireless video feed from my camera to my MacBook Pro so that I can use iStopMotion on footage AS I am rolling it? Please provide me with a list of any products or software that I will need to purchase in order to accomplish this.

That way, I could use the last frame that was captured in my previous shot and onion skin that on top of the footage that I’m currently shooting so that I can adjust the actor’s position to line up exactly with the previous shot. One solution I had in mind was to use an onion skinning app such as iStopMotion on a live video feed. Therefore, I would need to capture a shot of her wearing one outfit, cut, change her outfit and then capture a shot of her wearing the new outfit without her appearing to have changed positions from the last shot. The shots involve having the actor stand in one place while her outfits are constantly changing. I am shooting a video that requires extremely detailed match cutting and am looking for the best solution for executing this.
